Welcome to the CAFAS in Ontario website.
Ontario’s mental health practitioners strive to provide the best services for children and youth. To do this efficiently and ethically mean determining which services are most effective for a variety of children, and demonstrating improved functioning or well-being once treatment is completed. Standardised screening instruments can assist with identifying these points. CAFAS is one such instrument. Ontario has initiated systematic screening and outcome measurement using CAFAS for children ages 6 to 17 years receiving mental health services in selected hospital-based and community organisations.
You are welcome to familiarise yourself with the resources available on our site. You are encouraged to speak to your child’s mental health worker regularly and work together with him/her to help your child achieve specific treatment goals.
A Client Brochure describing the tools and their use to the clients of children's mental health services is available for clients in English and French. You can read more about the CAFAS information protection in the section entitled CAFAS and Confidentiality.
A parents brochure (A Guide for
Parents and
Caregivers) describing What is the CAFAS, what can be expect at the
start of services, what are the CAFAS scores, your role etc. is available now to you.
