CAFAS Use in Child and Youth Psychiatry

Psychiatrists working in MYCS-funded CYMH programmes and clinics are encouraged to achieve inter-rater reliability on the CAFAS and to familiarise themselves with the tool.

n.b. At the moment, there is no provision for OHIP billing for CAFAS ratings.

Physicians may claim their CAFAS Reliability Training and Booster Training hours for CPD Credits in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Maintenance of Certification Program.  This training qualifies under Section 4 of their programme as clinical traineeship: structured education activities that are developed to meet the specific professional based needs.
Should you be selected for the Credit Validation Program, you will need three pieces 
of information:

Objectives for the traineeship – in your training package handout;

Confirmation of completion of the traineeship – this will be the certificate
issued to you by CAFAS in Ontario

Your own comments/notes regarding impact on practice resulting from the
training and use of the CAFAS measure.
