General Information

The CAFAS is intended and designed to be rated by individuals with background and experience in child and youth mental health.  In order to use the CAFAS clinicians must have achieved inter-rater reliability.

In Ontario, this can be achieved in one of three ways:

1. Self-rating / self-study
2. Reliability training by CAFAS in Ontario
3. Reliability training provided within a CAFAS User CYMH agency provided by a licensed in-house trainer.

Inter-rater reliability ensures that all raters apply the same rules and standards in their application of the tool in an applied setting. Different clinicians should end up with the same rating for a particular client at the same point in time. The scale must be used in a standardized manner in order to ensure accuracy.

A training schedule located on this site will indicate when training is available by us throughout Ontario.

In-house trainers: Please note that all training materials required for your training session must be ordered from Karen Fennell. A minimum of 2 week in advance of your training date.
